Meet The Team

Dr. Rocio Chicon fell in love with animals as a small child thanks to her family’s basset hound named Osiris. In 2011, Dr. Chicon completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University Complutense in Madrid, Spain. Soon after graduation she moved to the UK, where she worked in South Wales, Manchester and Norfolk. She completed a surgical Internship at Fitzpatrick referrals (known as the Super Vet) in Surrey, followed by a rotational Internship at the University of Edinburgh. In 2018, she completed a specialization course in Orthopedics at the University Complutense of Madrid. At the moment, Rocio is working towards a higher qualification in Soft tissue, orthopedic surgery. Dr. Chicon’s main interests are surgery, specialty orthopedics, neurology and dentistry. Outside veterinary medicine, Rocio enjoys spending time with her family, two cats and her dog. Rocio’s interests include Pilates, water sports and travelling.

Dr. Diogo Vinhas completed his master's degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon in 2020. He spent two years working in a private referral centre in Águeda, a reputable hospital for 24/7 emergency service. During that time, Diogo strengthened his skills in internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care. Since one of the main interests of Dr. Diogo is imaging, he also underwent two different Ultrasound courses by Improve International.

When not in the Ultrasound room, Dr. Diogo loves team sports like football and basketball. He also doesn't miss the opportunity to be outdoors, whether it's surfing or reading a good book by the beach.

Master's degree in small animal clinics

Dr. Rebeca completed her Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain in 2017. After graduation, she travelled to Mexico to train in exotic and wild animal clinics, where she spent 6 months working with specialists in different centers. She returned to Spain to continue her development at the Veterinary Hospital del Penedes, Barcelona. In 2020, she completed a Master's Degree in Small Animal Clinic at the University of Barcelona and additional courses in emergency medicine and intensive care. In 2022, Dr Rebeca completed the Postgraduate course in Exotic Animals.Dr Rebeca is passionate about veterinary medicine and all species of animals, with a special interest in those less common friends such as birds, rabbits, turtles, chinchillas - to name just a few.

Dr Monica became a veterinary surgeon in 2018 after studying veterinary medicine in Valencia at CEU Cardinal Herrera University. After completing her studies, Dr Monica worked in Manchester, UK and Liverpool, UK in referral hospitals and as a general practitioner. Dr Monica joined the BVS team in 2021 as a full time general practitioner veterinary surgeon focused on small animal medicine with a special interest in emergency medicine and surgery. In 2022, Dr Monica completed the Accelerated Emergency and Critical Care Program with Improve International to further her interests and hone her skills in emergency veterinary medicine.

During all of the years Dr Monica has worked as a veterinary surgeon, she has been able to combine her work as a veterinarian with her love of dance in order to also further her dance career, working as a dance teacher, a yoga practitioner and soon an instructor. Dr Monica intends to continue to follow her passions for veterinary medicine and for dance. She hopes one day to own a dance studio while continuing to work part time at a veterinary practice, always keeping both worlds operating in harmony alongside each other.
